If you've been following for a while, you might know I love to throw a party and I love a theme!
Mexican Fiesta is a theme I picked for Millie when I was pregnant with her, and planned ever since. I slowly bought decorations (dead set over the period of a year) and made to do lists until it was finally time to set up!
Everyone arrived at 2pm (I chose a late start because I knew some friends enjoy a drink and would stay late into the night) to a salsa bar and cocktails. I made the salsas the day before and that morning and presented them in gorgeous hand painted bowls i'd sourced in my months of trawling. A friend and I made the cocktails in jugs - mojitos, sangria and of course margaritas.
As well as the salsa bar, I had a lolly bar set up which the kids (and adults!) loved. Cookies and brightly coloured lollies filled the bench - centred with the amazing cake!
An hour into the party, I had a special (and very OTT) pair of guests arrive - Hephner the Alpaca and Luna the Llama. They were a huge hit. Everyone loved patting and getting photos with them - particularly Hephner who was amazingly trained (he even came inside to cut the cake!).
Along came dinner time and we had organised a taco feast for those who were still playing along! Spicy slow cooked beef, rotisserie chickens (both thanks to chef Matt) and beans served with salsas, hot sauce and accompaniments. Margaritas were flowing heavily by this stage - so a nice filling meal was in need!
The party continued on til the early hours of the morning - it was truly a fiesta!
A week or two out from the party I was worried that I'd gone too hard on the party prep but I loved every part. Photographer, alpaca, 13 cacti - all of it!! xxx
