I Bloody Got My Period

I Bloody Got My Period

Last year I received some amazing stories from some beautiful followers about periods, and I knew I had to share. Well, this week I got my first period in about 16 months and I thought, "this is the bloody time".  Let's talk stats. I ran some period polls through my Instagram and only 35% said they felt prepared for their first period. Whether it was mental preparation or physical - that is something we can offer the next generation!! 42% said they told their mum, dad or carer when they first got their period. I fell in that 58% that...

Go Big And Go Home

Go Big And Go Home

5 years ago we bought a 2 acre block of land just out of town in Bowral. At the time we were planning a wedding and didn't want too much on our plate - so we put off starting the design process. In hindsight, oh that wonderful thing, we could've started straight away and not even been close to an overlap of wedding and house. Dear Camilla

Dear Camilla

Dear Camilla, I wasn't sure I was meant to be a mum. Even once I was pregnant with you, I couldn't visualise the next stage. Then you arrived. I wasn't overcome with a maternal instinct like so many people said I would have. You didn't even feel like mine. I was anxious, excited and in disbelief. Fast forward a day or so and I started to realise you were actually mine, and I was actually yours. On day 3 we had a full day alone, and I started to really, truly bond with you. Fast forward a week or so...

Newborn Mama Advice Column

Newborn Mama Advice Column

By expert mum of 9 days, Eloise. Jokes! I've got nothing together. I'm crying a lot and have run out of clean undies today. But here's what I've learnt. Say Yes! You'll have offers from everyone to help. Postpartum isn't a time to let pride or ego get in the way. And don't feel like an inconvenience - the offer is there. And your answer is YES PLEASE! I've said yes to every single offer of food. My heart (and belly) is so grateful. Rest Rest and sleep when you can. Chances are your nights are looking more like a...

The End Is Near (but I'm glad it's not here yet)

The End Is Near (but I'm glad it's not here yet)

I'm in week 36 with less than 3 weeks to go!  I'm in a fair bit of pain and I'm super emotional, but I am going ok. Since starting this account I always promised myself I'd be honest and raw and speak many unspoken, often taboo, truths. This pregnancy has been no exception. Some have beautiful pregnancies and love every moment of growing a human. Don't get me wrong - there's lots that I have loved - but it's been hard. Harder than I thought. One symptom eases up and another one takes over. I'm exhausted, sore and hormonal. But...
